A Time To Kill (1996)

So last night I finally got to see another Matthew McConaughey that is considered “good.” Initial thoughts are that it is indeed pretty good, but I don’t think it’s thanks to Mr. McConaughey’s acting, and it is such a long movie. Quite an all-star cast is assembled here, and I award most of the movie’s “goodness” to the scriptwriter, Kevin Spacey, and the Sutherland father and son.

Overall, it’s well worth watching if you have the time (150min) and are in the mood for a serious and dramatic courtroom movie. Definitely don’t count on it to bring up your spirits. Similar movies that came to mind while I was watching were Primal Fear and American History X.
